Eva Wǒ — Multimedia Digital Artist
I am an artist who explores, celebrates, and creates visibility for queer and non-normative gender expressions and sexual identities of marginalized individuals. This includes honoring the entire being free of stereotypes or censorship. I also use art and social media to explore visual representations and expand upon my own self identities. Unfortunately due to Instagram's vague community guidelines, I have had an account deleted and dozens of posts taken down. This has impacted my ability to express my message and has seeped into my creative process as an incentive not to produce work including any artful nudity knowing I won't be able to share the work with my followers. I believe Instagram should also reevaluate their "female" nipple policy as it is sexist, transphobic, anti-art, and completely retroactive. I agree that their focus on monitoring, censoring, and deleting accounts should shift toward racist, rape-y, otherwise actively oppressive imagery, language, and content.
